Workcamp
One week of work teaches a lifetime of caring!
Workcamp is the ultimate expression of Christian service, offering a fun, challenging, faith-building adventure for youths, ages 12 – 20.
Sponsored by Group Mission Trips, this one-week trip offers youths an opportunity to perform hands-on home repair projects for families in need while connecting with other teens and growing in their love for God!
Our trips take us to areas within 7 hours of Aurora to help fix-up and repair homes that need love and care, just like their owners. Many of the homes have been damaged by natural disasters or years of disrepair due to financial distress. Typical projects include carpentry, building wheelchair ramps, painting and dry wall.
The Church in Aurora Workcamp mission trips have been offered each summer since 1995, with the exception of 2020 due to Covid-19.
Our Workcamp trips cost approximately $620 per person. The program is paid for with a personal $200 registration fee, along with donations from the church’s Missions Committee and Women’s Guild and group fundraisers throughout the year.

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Workcamp Mission Trip will be to Mount Gilead, Ohio, June 14 – 20, 2026! The trip is open to both youth and adults to attend (age requirement for youth is on the flyer). The deposit deadline is sneaking up so please take a look at the flyer below and let us know ASAP if you (and a friend!) would like to attend Workcamp. It is a transformative week of helping others and serving God.

Workcamp Trip June 16 – June 22, 2024
MAUMEE, OHIO 2024
Maumee is a suburb southwest of Toledo, named after the Miami Indians, that experienced sweltering temperatures near 100° the week of our 2024 Workcamp.
This year, 14 Workcampers and eight adult leaders representing The Church in Aurora gathered in Maumee, OH with 12 other churches from eight states to work on over 24 houses. Click here to listen to the June 23, 2024 service as several work campers shared their experience during the week.
Workcamp Trip June 25 – July 1, 2023
The 2023 Youth Workcamp Mission Trip took place in Springfield, Ohio from Sunday, June 25 – Saturday, July 1st. Our group of 9 students and 6 adults worked with 245 others from 14 churches and local groups to repair 30 home sites. You can hear their testimonials during worship HERE. Workcamp Trip July 10 – July 16, 2022
ELKVIEW, WEST VIRGINIA 2022
Elkview is in the beautiful Kanawha Valley of West Virginia’s coal country, taking its name from the wonderful Elk River that flows through the area. Although it is near the busy capital of Charleston, little growth in manufacturing, professional, or construction jobs has left this area with a struggling economy.
This year, 15 Workcampers and adult leaders representing The Church in Aurora gathered in Elkview, WV with 17 other churches from 6 states to work on over 32 houses. Click here to listen to the July 17, 2022 service as several work campers shared their experience during the week.
