Submitted by Betsy Tomasko-Garner, Memorials Committee
It was just last week that we remembered Christ’s death. Last Sunday we rejoiced in our Risen Lord. We do not forget his death and Resurrection. As Christ said in Luke 24: 45-48 “The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in His name to all nations beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” The prediction of Christ’s death and His resurrection is joined with the essence of man’s response and the resulting benefit.
Our Memorials Committee is committed to receiving, acknowledging and disbursing memorial gifts we receive. As Christ has taught us, we are only instruments of His gifts. Since 1971 Memorials has believed that nothing less than an investment in the living is appropriate with the funds in our Memorial Fund, specifically to further the education of our church youth above the high school level.
Therefore, we want to encourage you to remember our Memorials Fund in your remembrances of your loved ones who have passed away and in your celebrations of your baptisms, confirmations, marriages, or anniversaries. Our Memorials Committee is an appointed committee which does not receive any funds from our church budget. We are blessed to be able to give scholarships to our graduating seniors through the memorial gifts already made to our Fund.
For future funding we are asking you to prayerfully consider our Memorials Fund as a place to invest in our youth who will be tomorrow’s leaders. Please consider remembering your life’s seminal events through a contribution to our Memorials Fund as a response to Christ’s Resurrection for you and your faith in Him.
Thank you and may God bless you.
