MINISTRY OF MUSIC

"I wish to see all arts, principally music, in the service of Him who gave and created them.  Music is a fair and glorious gift of God.  I would not for the world forego my humble share of music."   Martin Luther

In the service of Him….these few words form the basis for our ministry of music here at The Church in Aurora.  The involvement of the staff and the many participants represents a huge commitment born of devotion to our church and service to the Lord.

Our seven choirs - four vocal and three handbell - provide a musical opportunity for all ages.  All of them contribute to the worship services during the year.

Summer Worship Music:

Music for worship during July and August is provided by soloists and ensembles, most being members of the Chancel Choir. 

Special Musical Events:

  • The BASIC Choir plus the 7th - 8th and High School Handbells take part in the Youth Sunday service.

  • A children’s cantata is performed once a year by the Choralier Choir for both morning worship services.

  • On Palm Sunday the Chancel Choir will present a cantata.

  • Chancel Choir has sung for the Relay for Life event in the Spring.

  • The annual Christmas Vespers  usually takes place on the second Sunday in December at 5:00 PM with all seven choirs participating.  This traditional service of beloved Christmas music has brought the warmth and joy of the season to many for over 40 years and continues to hold a very special place in our hearts.

  • The 9:00 P.M. Christmas Eve service is one of music and narration presented by an ensemble from the Chancel Choir.

  • The Chancel Choir sings at the 11:00 PM Traditional Christmas Eve service.

Music Staff:   The strength of our music program is derived in large part from our excellent staff.  They bring skilled leadership to the music ministry and their expertise helps to maintain and enhance the standard and quality of sacred music for which our church is known.  We are indeed fortunate to have them serving our church and appreciate their continued devotion.
