Bicentennial Activities

To celebrate the Bicentennial the following activities and commemorations have been planned:

May 10, 2009	SAY CHEESE: Congregational picture taken at 10:30 on the front lawn.
November 1, 2009	Remembering "saints past and present" will include recognition of long-time members.
November 28, 2009 6:00 - 11:00 PM The Bertram 600 N. Aurora Road Aurora, OH 44202	Reserve your spot now for the gala Bicentennial Dinner and Celebration at the Bertram Inn with musical entertainment and exhibits beginning at 6 PM (cash bar available). Take time to browse committee displays and enjoy musical selections by a variety of artists. At 7 PM we'll enjoy a delicious meal, followed by a special presentation marking our church's 200 years of faith, history and service. The Art Company Band will entertain for the balance of the evening for your listening and dancing pleasure. And don’t be surprised to see a few surprises along the way! Tickets for this festive occasion are available now at a cost of just $20 per person. Don't miss this premier birthday event! Don’t miss out on what promises to be a festive evening with family and friends. Seating reservations can be made for any number (up to ten per table) and accommodations can be made for families or friends to be seated together. Deadline is Saturday, November 14, so don’t wait! Simply complete and return the response card included in the invitation sent to you either by mail or by dropping it off at the church office. December 27, 2009	Heritage Sunday - The old pulpit will be the focal point of this special gathering recreating a typical worship service of the early 1800's. Portions of one of Reverend Seward's sermons will be delivered in dramatic portrayal - complete with historical attire.
December 31, 2009	Late afternoon Vespers Service will commemorate this, the actual anniversary of the church's first service.

A CD by our Chancel Choir, highlighting seventeen of the church's favorite anthems recorded for our Bicentennial celebration. $20
Bicentennial Book commemorating The Church in Aurora's rich history, this notable volume will be a must-have. Available in 2010.
The Aurora Historical Society's Christmas ornament this year celebrates The Church in Aurora's bicentennial logo. They can be ordered after the service or from the historical society for $15 each.
"More Than a Landmark" A memorable musical anthem commissioned for the church's Bicentennial will be premiered by the Chancel Choir this fall.
Church Archive - Inventory and upgrade now being undertaken.
Century Quilt - Now on display in the South Chapel.

Items for purchase will be available after each service in Fellowship Hall. Proceeds from these sales will offset the cost of our Bicentennial celebrations.
